The Romanian ISPAT-SIDEX Iron and Steelworks can’t be considered as major polutant in its regional landscape. Nevertheless, the company is deploying big efforts in order to decrease the impact of some technological processes on environment.
During last year, a substantial grow-up of steel production was recorded in this company, due to the positive effect of provatisation with ISPAT-one of the most important steel producers all over the world.
The present paper include some personal opinions of the authors and proposals for environment balances, worked aut by members of scientific departments belonging to „Wallachia” University of Târgoviste-faculty of Materials Science and Engineering. They started important scientific works in the field of industrial environmental engineering, particularly in the Romanian Iron and Steel Industry, in the years 2001-2002. Works are continuing in 2003.

The modern technology of manufacture of high-grade steel by the L.F. process (ladle-furnace) considering both the increase of melting unit and the increase of high-grade steel by the improvementsome physico - mechanical properties.
The typical physico-chemical processes, which take place between the metallurgical phases are produced due to injection some strongly desulphurized powders colligated to injection of inert gas Ar together with the electromagnetic continuous swirling of metal. The efficiency of metallurgical processes consists of strongly decrease of the sulphur content from metallic both that ascertains the increase some physico-mechanical properties: tensile strength and resilience; by comparison with the steels obtained by classical technologies.

Metalurgia (55) 2003, nr.4, p.26 Superplasticity of metallic materials is a property essentially bonded to their structural state. Apart from the microstructural evolution during the superplastic deformation, an important aspect is also the initial microstructural state of the material, which makes the subject of the research work presented in this paper. Starting from three different initial structural states, the studied alloy, an industrial duralumin, has been subjected to deformation in different temperature and strain rate conditions, the superplastic characteristics having been studied in each case.

The paper presents a stady of tensions and deformations resulted during a static loading of a biplane butterfly valve of 1,500 mm diameter, under a pressure p = 1 N/m
2, using finite elements methode, experimentally checked, using electrical tensiometric resistive method. Knowledge about the exact behaviour of such type of valves during operation is very important, in ordin to establish the maximal permitted losses regulations. |
