                In this paper are presented various theories regarding the location in which the decarburization reaction takes place during oxidation period of the chromium high alloyed metal baths with low carbon content in case of the duplex (EAF-VOD) technology.

Munteanu Sorin Ion, Ciobanu Ioan,  Crişan Aurel: Particularities concerning the solidification of „U” bars with small opening between parallel arms

In this paper there are presented the results obtained by authors concerning the solidification of some bars with „U” section having a small distance between the parallel walls of the section.  It was used the computer aided simulation method with a software based on a 2D finite differences mathematical model. The case of eutectic cast iron parts, cast in molding batch on the base of silica sand, cured with CO2 , was analyzed.

Mirela SOHACIU: Prediction of some obiective functions tos crap substitute with powdere materials

                This paper propose establishing of an objective function (the melt steel quality and process parameters) to powdered materials use (EAF dust, scale and slurry) as scrap substitute for steelmaking. It was studied the influence of some parameters, such as: EAF dust amount in charge and Zn and P content from EAF dust, being establish the assimilation ratio of P and Zn, scale amount influence on charge and Fetot content from scale and, also, the slurry amount on charge and Fetot content from slurry.

Alexandru Petrică, Elena Drugescu: The modelling of phases transformation for the thermal treatments submitted steels

A mathematical model, has been developed to

predict the interaction among temperature and phase transformations and applied to the water quenching for steel bars. The rate of transformation for the austenite-to-martensite reaction is calculated from a empirical relation (Koistinen-Marburger) and from a numerical method of interpolation for the transformation austenite-to-perlite, ferrite and bainite.

Florentina Potecaşu, Potecaşu Octavian: effect of material faults on corrosion behaviour of some parts, working in ship industry

The researches are based on the corrosion behaviour of the piping associated with the coolers for the main and auxiliary engines on shipboard Ferosa. Usually the cooler pipes are made from sea water-resistant standard Cu Ni alloys. However, an unproper behaviour to corrosion has lately been noticed, that is why the authors tried to find the causes of the piping corrosion. The experiments were made on a sea-going vessel the corroded pipes of which presented an abnormally short service life. The chemical tests performed on the pipe material (alloy 1 - the heat exchangers of the auxiliary engines; alloy 2 - the heat exchangers of the main engines) revealed a correct chemical composition in compliance with the requirements. Since the pipe corrosion was found to be uneven, samples were taken from several pipes and different pipe zones so that all aspects related to corrosion could be properly investigated. The micro and macrostructural analysis carried out on both corrosion attacked samples and corrosion - free samples, on the inner walls and on cross and oblique sections underlined the significant effects on any structural defects.

Ana Veteleanu: The anticorrosive protection of steels through the mixed enrichment with chromium and aluminium

The increase of resistance to corrosion in various environments of steels can be obtained through various procedures. The present paper deals with the analysis of the behaviour to corrosion of steels that are superficially covered through diffusion with chromium, aluminum and chromium-aluminum.By means of forming a mixed covering, there is an improvement both in the resistance to corrosion as well as in other characteristics of exploitation such as persistence and resistance to thermal shocks.
