Călaie, Maria Nicolae, Avram Nicolae: Some elements
of restructuring study for a mini steel plant
Metalurgia (56) 2004, nr.3 p.5
The paper is destinated to
establish the required activities and measures in order to restructure a
Romanian iron and steel company, having the following product mix in 2001:
- crude steel: 376,000 tons;
- finished rolled products: 212,000
tons;
- billets for seamless tubes: 105,000 tons.
The restructuring strategy includes:
- Industrial restructuring: investment volume,
product mixt, market;
- Financial restructuring: steps intended to be
performed for financial economic recovery;
- Social restructuring: labour force
evolution, correlated to industrial and financial restructuring.
This paper has to be linked to two other papers published in previous
issues of periodical Metalurgia.

Maria Nicolae, Avram Nicolae,
Vasile Şerban: Interactions
between sulphur dioxide,
generated during iron and steel
metallurgical processes and bodies situated
in metallurgical environment
Metalurgia (56) 2004, nr.3, p.11
Engineering activities in the field of environment
control are destinated to:
- analysis of
status down stream of metallurgical processes (identification, measuring
and dispersion of emissions, and secondary materials utilisation);
- investigations
regarding emissions in the metallurgical processes contour are not yet
completely finalized.
Taking into account the aspects presented
above, some steps have to be performed:
- intensification
of efforts regarding environment profilaxy,
based on knowledges of theory of industrial
generation of effluents;
- to establish
the mathematical instruments required in order to predict the quantity
of effluents to be generated by basical
metallurgical processes and auxiliary operations.

manufacturing level of steel in the iron
and steel industry
Metalurgia (56) 2004, nr.3, p.20
In order to increase the efficiency in the iron and steel industry, the
Romanian Metallurgical Research Institute (ICEM) performed comparative
analysis regarding the world-wide and Romanian iron and steel industries.
Results of investigations indicate an increasing with minimum 100 USD/ton
of efficiency, if manufacturing level of steel is improved. Modernisation and
restructuring of iron and steel industry is required in order to diminish the
gap as compared to world wide and EU levels.

Fluidized bed is favorable
properties for heat and thermo chemical treatment. The mass and heat transfer
coefficient having higher values. Experiments for carbonitriding in fluidized
bed was made in laboratory conditions and we used different low alloy steel
samples. In this paper is showing some aspects concerning the carbonitriding
experiments in atmosphere based on methane and ammonia.

yield of copper during melting
in open hearth furnace
Metalurgia (56) 2004, nr.3, p.33
The way to calculate the extraction of copper during melting in open
hearth furnace base don metall losses during the process is presented. The
losses are evaluated taking into account thermodynamic data.
The advantage of the method is the calculation of yields, as compared to
average of operation data, as usually people do in the factory.
