Petre Stelian Niţă: Effect of slag composition variation during
desulphurisation process
Metalurgia (56) 2004, nr.1 p.5
In the paper are
estimated effects of small variations of the chemical composition, of slags used in steel desulphurization, appearing due to
the desulphurization process itself, i.e.
steel reoxidization,
increasing of Al2O3 content and decreasing of CaO
content of the slag, in the case of carbon and low alloyed, aluminum killed
steels. In the case of very clean steels, from the point of view of
non-metallic inclusions, oxyses and sulphides, during the experimental heats, reoxidization becomes important, as proportion in the
whole process ( 22,90%, 17,56%, 24,90%) and even it
can be the main aspect of the reoxidization, when
very resistent refractories
are used and in the case of inert, or vacuum working atmospheres.
After the knowledge of the author, it is
for first time when, the contribution of the steel desulphurization process,
under slags, in reoxidization of the treated steel, is shown.

Plastic Deformation of the Thin Slabs Directly from the Continuous Casting

Metalurgia
(56) 2004, nr.1, p.18
The continuous casting of the thin slabs
and their rolling, directly from the continuous casting, represents a process
with highly technico-economical implications. The
processes that take place under the new technologies must be analysed and researched in order to obtain the permanent
decreasing of the fabrication costs and the qualitative rise of the rolled
products.

of thin layers thickness,
performed in vacuum
Metalurgia
(56) 2004, nr.1, p.27
The measuring method is represented by X-ray absorbtion, the results
being checked by layer thickness, depending on electric resistance of this
layer, resistivity of material being considered constant. During absorption
experiments samples of plastic materials covered with aluminium thin layer
were utilised.

and steps required by it
Metalurgia
(56) 2004, nr.1, p.33
The paper presents activities and steps to be taken for restructuring of
a Romanian steelplant with the following product mix (year 2001):
·
crude steel: 376,000 tons;
·
finished rolled propducts: 212,000 tons;
·
billets for seamless tubes.
The restructuring strategy takes into account the following aspects:
·
Industrial restructuring: capital expedinture, product mix and market;
·
Financial restructuring: steps to be taken in order to improve the economical and financial
situation.
·
Social restructuring: labour force evolution corelated to industrial and financial
restructuring.
