During the last few years, important efforts were developed by COST (Special SteelworksTārgovişte) managerial staff in order to improve de environmental conditions.

In this respect, restructuring andmodernisationof electric steelmaking shop no.2 was made for the benefit of environment, too.

The present paper includes some personal opinions of the authors regarding the environmental balanceutilisationfor this case taking also into account some of proposals of other people working in this field.

The paper was submitted to the scientific session of theWallachiaUniversity, which wasorganisedon 4-5 June 2003.

In this paper are presented some researches and relevant results, regarding the obtaining of the pellets, through using the plant dust, agglomerate dust and ferrous powdery wastes in thepelletisingcharges, resulted for thespathiciron ores processes. The resulted pellets have a sufficient resistance for uses at the charge of the electric arc furnaces and represent an excellent addition material, for the refining slag formation, at the steel elaboration. This aspect is very important for us - specialists in the steel elaboration. In this paper we presented some researches and their experimental results obtained in the processing of pulverous wastes through apelletisingoperation.

Also, this procedure can be significant for the environmental protection. The implementation in the industrial practices of the accounting technologies of these ferrous powdery wastes, now stored in the regional ponds of the nearby ferrous industry sectors, assure in time the repossession of this place occupied by the wastes, to the natural environment.

Also, this technology establishes the elimination of some environment pollution sources, especially the air pollution and the earth and water contamination.

Metalurgia International (vol.VIII), 2003, p. 17

Metals like zinc are used for a lot of building appliances. This is one of the reasons why problems concerning their corrosion are extremely important. The anodic positions of zinc on the potential scale also its specific chemical and metallurgical characteristics are conferring a certain place within the metal class used on the above-mentioned field. It is well-known that the environmental corrosion resistance of zinc is superior to that of other metals; but this resistance, under certain technological processing conditions and a certaininclusionarystate of the metal decreases very much, thus explaining why the reliability of the product diminishes. The paper presents concrete environmental corrosion forms found on various zinc sheets, which were used temporarily as roof for some patrimony buildings:CotroceniPalace, Romanian Athenaeum,SinaiaCasino.

Metalurgia International (vol.VIII), 2003, p. 32

The semi-planetary rolling isaoriginal method for plastic deformation of the semi-product. The semi-planetary rolling mill consists of a planetary rolling cylinder (superior cylinder and a massive cylinder (inferior cylinder). In the proximity of the planetary cylinder, the strain intensity is grater then the strain intensity developed in the proximity of the massive cylinder. Consequently into the deformed material an asymmetrical deformation state is developed. Thesemiproductcurves and the curvature is influenced by the thickness reduction in thesemip-planetary rolling processand b/h ratio. In this paper are showed the experimental researches concerning the influence of the named parameters on local deformations and curvature of the semi-planetary rolled product.
